A Valentine's Day couple who gorged on steak, lobster and "numerous bottles of wine" at a pub walked off without paying, leaving the owners shocked.
The pair racked up a "hefty" £179.20 bill at The Mill in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, on Monday night.
One of the pub's owners Alex Cook warned the couple they had been caught on camera and gave them a deadline to cough up the cash before going to the police, Teesside Live reports.
The award-winning pub posted on Tuesday: "To the lovely couple that racked up a hefty bill consisting of fillet steak and lobster, numerous bottles of wine.
"While we’re sure it was an honest mistake on your part that you left without paying, please pay your bill by 4 o'clock today.
"You were sat opposite a camera and the CCTV couldn’t be clearer. Happy Valentine's, eh."
Speaking to the Mirror Alex confirmed he tracked down the couple and asked them to pay.
Eventually the woman called back and settled the bill, paying by card without leaving a tip.
The couple's receipt shows they ate mussels to start, Thai red chicken curry, half a lobster, a fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce and a side of halloumi fries.
Their food was washed down with a large Coke and four bottles of Zinfandel wine.
Some followers were keen for the pub to name and shame the couple for their antics and many more were keen to see if they had eventually paid up.
One follower Tricia Davis said: "There is no need for it, businesses are struggling enough, if you can't afford to go out until you get paid, don't go out, its so wrong, I feel sorry for the staff, puts so much pressure on them, its down right cheeky.
"They should have gone to Tesco got a meal for £10."
Katie Platt added: "Blimey ! That’s a lot of wine on a school night. No wonder they 'forgot' to pay."
Alex confirmed the bill was settled but added that the pair was also barred from the establishment for good.
Many people were impressed with the pub's handling of the situation.
Emma Gaulter said: "They want to be thankful that you have been so understanding.
"Most businesses would have sent the CCTV to the police or at least put it on social media.
"Glad you got your money."
John Phillips added: "You’ve been calm and restrained and really clever about the whole nasty situation. Well done."
