RAMGARH: A district court in Ramgarh awarded 14 years of rigorous imprisonment to one Akil Ansari (28) on Saturday under Section 376 of the IPC for kidnapping a woman, raping her several times and marrying her against her will in September 2020. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 and pronounced an additional three-year jail term in case of non-payment of the fine.
The court of additional district judge-1, Radha Krishna, also granted an eight-year jail term under Section 366 of the IPC, slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 and an additional jail term of two years in case of non-payment of the fine. Both these sentences will run concurrently. The woman was kidnapped on September 10 and a week later, the accused was arrested.
