Residents of Lucknow, Noida, Amethi and several other parts of Uttar Pradesh may have to wait longer for monsoon relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that conditions are currently not favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance into the state.
With temperatures climbing above 40 degrees Celsius in many districts, heatwave-like conditions are expected to persist over the coming days despite isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall in some areas, according to The Indian Express.
When Will Monsoon Reach Uttar Pradesh?
According to the IMD, there are no favourable conditions for the monsoon to advance into Uttar Pradesh during the next four to five days.
Meteorologists say the state is currently not under the influence of any major weather system that could help push the monsoon further north. As a result, any rainfall recorded over the next few days is likely to be caused by local weather activity rather than the southwest monsoon itself.
“At present, there is no major weather system influencing Uttar Pradesh. In the absence of significant cloud cover, daytime radiative heating is taking place, leading to a rise in temperatures,” IMD scientist Atul Kumar Singh told The Express.

Why Is Uttar Pradesh Getting Hotter?
The absence of widespread cloud cover is allowing strong solar heating during the daytime, causing temperatures to rise across the state.
Parts of southern and eastern Uttar Pradesh are particularly vulnerable at this time of year because they fall within one of India's peak heating zones when the sun is positioned near the Tropic of Cancer. This has resulted in several districts recording unusually high temperatures.

The latest weather observations showed temperatures soaring across eastern Uttar Pradesh.

These cities ranked among the hottest locations in the country as dry conditions continued to dominate the region.
Lucknow Weather Forecast
Lucknow is expected to experience hot and humid conditions over the next few days.
While isolated thunderstorms and brief spells of rain cannot be ruled out, meteorologists say these local weather events are unlikely to provide lasting relief from the heat. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain above normal until monsoon conditions improve. Residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the afternoon sun and stay hydrated.
Noida Weather Forecast
In Noida and the National Capital Region, temperatures are also expected to remain high and the IMD has predicted mainly clear skies in the coming week.
Although occasional cloud development and gusty winds may occur, weather experts do not expect any major change in the overall pattern. Hot daytime conditions and warm nights are likely to continue through the week.
Amethi Weather Forecast
Amethi and neighbouring districts in central Uttar Pradesh are also likely to witness hot weather over the coming days. Localised thunderstorms may develop due to daytime heating, but widespread rainfall remains unlikely until the monsoon progresses further into the state.
Heatwave Conditions May Return After June 19
The IMD has forecast isolated rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh through June 18. However, from June 19 onwards, heatwave conditions are expected to reappear in isolated pockets of the state as temperatures rise once again.
Weather experts caution that any rainfall activity during this period will be scattered and short-lived, offering only temporary relief.
There is some hope for northern Uttar Pradesh, particularly the Terai belt.
Meteorologists say rainfall activity could increase in parts of the northern region after five to six days. However, the actual arrival of the southwest monsoon in Uttar Pradesh will depend on future atmospheric developments and weather systems over the coming week.
