Agra: Amid Diwali celebrations, a 25-year-old girl was gang-raped brutally in a hotel in Agra in the wee hours on Sunday. Five accused, including a woman, have been arrested, police officials said.
Police said they received a call from the victim in the wee hours on Sunday, following which they rushed to the homestay and took action against the accused.
"On Saturday night, Tajganj police received a call that in a homestay, a woman here had been raped and was assaulted. According to the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been filed under relevant sections," Archana Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Agra Sadar, said on Sunday.
Police say that the victim was an employee of the hotel.
A viral video shows the victim is shouting for help while being dragged and beaten up by the accused.
According to reports she was also forced to drink liquor and when she refused, one of the accused hit her head with the bottle, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The medical examination of the victim is being done.
