Uttar Pradesh elections: Samajwadi Party not secure even in its 'safest' seat, says PM Narendra Modi

LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Samajwadi Party was poised to lose from the seat which it considered the "safest". His apparent reference was towards Karhal from where SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was in the fray in the third phase of polling in UP elections on Sunday.

Addressing a rally in Unnao, Modi, without naming anyone, said the opposition leader had to rope in his ailing father, requesting him to secure the seat. "The same father was once pushed off the stage and his party was snatched by his son," Modi said, recalling the family rift in the family of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in the run up to 2017 assembly elections. Mulayam had recently rached Karhal to campaign for Akhilesh who faces a challenge from BJP’s SP Singh Baghel.
