LUCKNOW: In a video message released on Sunday, AAP national convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal issued an appeal to the people of UP to give AAP “ek mauka” (one chance) in the upcoming assembly polls.
Kejriwal, who is likely to start the UP campaign only after the conclusion of the Goa and Punjab polls by February 20 by which time three phases of the seven-phase poll in UP will be over, asked for support especially for the party’s candidate from Dadri, Sanjay Chechi and from Noida, Pankaj Awana.
“We have been running the government in Delhi for seven years. We have drastically improved the condition of government schools, raised the level of education, made it free, provided free treatment for everyone in government hospitals, provided free power which is available 24x7, given better roads and water supply. Give us one chance in UP and we will implement the same improvements here as well,” Kejriwal said.
The Delhi CM said that people in UP should speak to their friends, family members or acquaintances who live in Delhi and ask whether Kejriwal did any work in Delhi. “If they say we have not worked, then do not vote for us. However if the say that we have worked there, then do give us a chance. The manifesto we have released as our guarantee is our promise to you. We will implement every single one of our promises as that is our agreement with you,” Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, the party’s entire focus is currently on western UP, with all senior members, MLAs from Delhi, MP Sanjay Singh, carrying out door-to-door campaigns for candidates in the first two phases of the elections.
Speaking in Aligarh on Sunday, Singh said that AAP was contesting on issues while the rest of the parties were fighting on the basis of money power.
