PRAYAGRAJ: After announcing cash rewards on the five absconding accused named in the FIR in the Atala violence and arson case, police on Tuesday took two accused Akhlaq and Abdul lodged at Naini Central Jail on remand to compile more information on the June 10 violence in the city.
The court had granted 24 hours custody remand of Akhlaq and Abdul to police. A police team reached Naini Central jail on Tuesday and brought Abdul and Akhlaq to police station for questioning.
Police officials said that Akhlaq, who was working at a local mosque in Kareli area and looked after sanitation work, was involved in Atala violence and arson.
Our teams are trying to identify the other accused involved in violence and arson and are also conducting raids in this regard, said an official. Till now, a total 105 accused, including the prime conspirator, have been arrested in the case.
