LUCKNOW: Jailed veteran politician Azam Khan is anything but happy with Samajwadi Party - the political outfit of which he has been a founding member. What is more, Azam is leaving no chance to make his displeasure known to the SP leadership. On Sunday, Azam refused to meet party president Akhiesh Yadav’s emissary MLA Ravidas Mehrotra and his supporters who reached Sitapur jail to meet him.
Walking out of the Sitapur jail after waiting inside for almost an hour, Ravidas Mehrotra tried to downplay the entire issue saying that Azam was apparently unwell but confirmed that he had reached Sitapur jail on the ‘directions’ of SP national president. “We are here on the direction of party president to reiterate that Samajwadi Party has been behind Azam Khan and will continue to do whatever possible for seek justice for him,” Mehrotra said.
