Uttar Pradesh: After losing bike for 'cycle', man gets Rs 1L from SP chief Akhilesh Yadav

LUCKNOW: Three days after he lost his motorcycle that he had pledged on a bet that the Samajwadi Party would win the 2022 assembly polls, Awadhesh Kushwaha of Banda met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday. Akhilesh not only gave him a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to buy a new motorcycle, but also gave him a valuable lesson -- never to place a bet on anything ever in life.

It all began on February 6 when Awadhesh Kushwaha of Bashari village in Banda was discussing politics with his neighbour Bilata Saini after a hard day's work. A vendor by profession, Awadhesh used to sell small electronic items like phone chargers, charging cables and solar torches along with plastic items on his motorcycle, earning enough to make the both ends meet. His neighbour Bilata Saini owns a tempo which he drives himself to meet daily expenses.
