Usyk vs Joshua 2 date and venue confirmed: Heavyweight title rematch set for August 20 in Saudi Arabia

Anthony Joshua’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk will take place in Saudi Arabia on August 20.

Jeddah had long been earmarked as the venue with the original July 23 date shifted to August and confirmed by Matchroom on Sunday.

Usyk will be defending his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight world titles having comfortably outpointed Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September in front of 60,000 fans.

Announcing the fight, Joshua said: “What a rollercoaster journey fighting for the heavyweight championships of the world for the 12th consecutive time.

“I won the belt, unified the division, won another belt, lost the belts, became a two-time unified heavyweight champion and now have my date with history set to become a three-time unified heavyweight champion of the world. What an opportunity.”

Meanwhile, champion Usyk said: “I have a goal with the help of the Lord I will complete my mission.”

An announcement over tickets for the Middle East clash will follow in due course.
