The U.S. men’s national team secured a 2–0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 to keep its World Cup hopes alive.
The United States had been flying on home soil at the 2026 World Cup with two impressive wins from its opening group matches, but a disappointing defeat to Türkiye in its final outing slightly dented confidence heading into its round of 32 clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Still, history favored Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The teams had only met three times before, with the USMNT winning twice and another ending in a draw.
Now the Stars and Stripes added another victory to their record thanks to goals from Folarin Balogun, who was sent off in the second half, and Malik Tillman on Wednesday night.
