LUCKNOW: By putting an effective ban on the use of loudspeakers and by using bulldozers against the illegal constructions and encroachments, the administration has successfully restored a peaceful atmosphere in the state, said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday.
It is the responsibility of the local administration to clear encroachments from government property, he said adding that every step should be taken to make roads and sidewalks encroachment free, while ensuring that no innocent person is victimized.
“While zero tolerance policy towards criminals and mafia dons should continue, the administration should be sensitive towards the poor and downtrodden,” the CM said, exhorting officers to initiate strict steps against mafia dons. “But if any officer would be caught harassing the poor he too would have to face strict action,” he added.
Yogi also instructed officers to use bulldozers for razing the property of listed criminals and mafia dons only.
“Bulldozers should not be used against the poor,” he said and added that space should be demarcated for street vendors and it should be ensured that they would not disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.
Besides, before launching the encroachment drive officers should win the confidence of area traders, the CM said. He also advised the administration to find a permanent solution to the problem of illegal taxi stands.
