According to reports, USC quarterback Caleb Williams is considering a game-changing contract demand of whatever team selects him. If the rumors are to be believed, Williams, who is projected to go No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL draft, wants partial ownership in whatever franchise selects him.
Williams hasn’t officially announced if he will enter the 2024 NFL draft but he is clearly the top quarterback in the class, and with so many quarterback-needy teams in the league, his status at the top is justified.
Having said that, it’s hard to imagine any team would be willing to do this. The rookie salary cap rules are fairly clear so it’s hard to understand how they could circumvent this if they were so inclined.
Caleb Williams reportedly wants “partial ownership” in whichever team selects him in the NFL Draft.
Many NFL scouts reportedly believe there’s “no shot” Williams doesn’t declare for this year’s draft, although he hasn’t made a decision yet.

But more than that, you would never give up any ownership rights to a player on the team, especially one who might not finish their career with that same team. It would just create further complications with league rules.
