Andrew Vorhees found himself in a nightmare scenario at the NFL scouting combine this weekend.
The former USC offensive tackle was seen as a likely early Day 3 pick entering the weekend, but he suffered a knee injury while going through workouts on Sunday. A Monday meeting with doctors confirmed the worst fears, as Vorhees tore his ACL per a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
It’s both rare and devastating to suffer an injury this serious at the combine, but the turn of events didn’t stop Vorhees from turning in an absolutely unthinkable performance on the bench on Sunday shortly after suffering the injury.
Wearing his recently acquired leg brace, Vorhees record 38 bench reps, which was the most of any prospect at the combine, at any position.

It’s a truly impressive display of perseverance the likes of which we rarely see even in a sport as physically demanding as football. Rehabbing from an ACL tear is no joke, and the timetable for such a recovery will almost certainly extend well into his rookie season.
Vorhees played six seasons with the Trojans, primarily starting as a right guard during his time in college, though he saw starts at left guard and left tackle, as well.
This injury could have an impact on his draft stock and cause him to fall, but Vorhees still managed to impress in the capacity he was able to participate this weekend.
