For the first time in more than two years, a team outside of California sits atop the USA TODAY Super 25 football rankings. It’s one of a few headline-grabbing moves this week, which also includes a significant shift after a major upset in Georgia as well as the Sunshine State.
The methodology: the HSS staff creates the Super 25 rankings while considering various data points, including strength of schedule, prospects, the more traditional stats—did the team win or lose?—as well as overall point differentials.
