Much loved Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy was on the US airwaves on Monday night, performing One Life on US TV on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and fans from across the Atlantic loved it.
The performance of One Life (a song from his number one, double platinum-selling album Sonder) gave audiences a glimpse into what they might expect on his upcoming tour which includes dates across Europe, the UK, the US and Canada before he heads home to Ireland for two sold-out shows in Dublin’s Marlay Park and three shows in Limerick’s Thomond Park.
The star posted a video of the performance to Twitter, telling his fans that the first TV performance of One Life felt "beautiful". "Last night! This one felt beautiful. One Life’s first TV performance. Thank you for having us @FallonTonight @jimmyfallon," he wrote.

While it is well known that Kennedy is beloved across Ireland, the singer-songwriter’s popularity is still growing across the pond. However, following his performance on The Tonight Show on Monday, US fans of Kennedy have been throwing praise at the Rathcoole singer.
One account wrote in the comments of the Youtube video of his performance on the show: “About once a year I discover a new artist I love through The Tonight Show, this is definitely one for this year! Amazing.”
Another posted: “Fantastic performance! Your accent reminds me of my Dad's. Your backup singers are so incredible. Your song moved me, thank you very much.”
One more account, commenting on how many artists sing with an American twang in their singing voice, paid compliments to Kennedy’s uniquely Irish voice: “Usually singers lose their accents when they actually sing; however, you could tell this guy is totally Irish. Interesting.”
Lastly, one account compared Kennedy to fellow Irish singer Niall Horan, posting: “This guy is amazing. I'm totally in love with him, his voice, he is a beautiful human like Niall Horan! Two Irish guys who sing with their heart! He deserves his success so much!”
