US TikToker finds Edinburgh Mexican restaurant that finally matches his high expectations

A popular TikToker who recently moved to Edinburgh from LA and has been in search of the best "SoCal quality Mexican comfort food" in the capital ever since – may have finally found a restaurant that meets his high standards.

Videoing his adventures in the city, the American reviewer, who goes by the name of Ed (with the cleverly titled @ed_in_burgh handle), regularly shares videos of his trips to the capital's restaurants documenting the differences he finds between here and his home city of Los Angeles.

We previously shared how he wasn't overly impressed by the offering at Wahaca, but it appears that he might have found a Mexican eatery in the city that at the very least meets his high expectations.

Posting about his latest trip in his search, Ed posted that after another day of "hankering for Mexican food", he'd decided to try out a new Taco spot.

This time up it was Taco Libre on Shandwick Place with Ed stating: "It looks legit Let's see how it tastes."

Impressed that they offer Birria, and the fact the restaurant is not only owned by Mexicans but that the food is cooked by them too, he states: "I mean it's ticking the boxes."

After trying a Michelada, which he says leans more into being a "Bloody Mary made with beer than it is a beer that's been seasoned", but is "pretty good", he gets tucked into the food on offer.

Describing the guac as "bang on" if "kind of small", he warned that it is pretty spicy so if you prefer it mild you might need to order it that way.

After enjoying the Quesadilla and some tacos, an impressed Ed states that Taco Libre is "by far the most authentic flavours" that he has found in Edinburgh so far.

He then finishes up by asking people for suggestions for better options that they might know of around the city.

What do you think? Is Taco Libre the best or do you have a better suggestion?
