The United States has lost or sustained damage to 81 military aircraft in the war with Iran, according to a fresh Congressional Research Service report that puts the price tag for those airframes at up to $3.3 billion (£2.26 billion).
The updated tally, released this week, shows the toll on US air power has nearly doubled since May and is dominated by MQ-9 Reaper drone losses that officials and analysts now describe as occurring at an alarming rate.
