US stocks climbed on Friday, putting the major indexes on course to end a rough week on a positive note even as August inflation accelerated. The gains suggest investors were able to look past the latest price data, helped by a sharp decline in oil prices and strength across all major S&P 500 sectors, according to Reuters.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 638.99 points, or 1.23%, to 52,703.09, while the S&P 500 gained 1.05% to 7,671.57. The Nasdaq Composite added 1.08% to 26,362.30 at 9:38 a.m. ET.
