The US State Department has announced that they will be in contact with any country whose citizens were impacted by the recent Baltimore bridge collapse. A spokesperson for the State Department stated that the Office of Foreign Missions is actively monitoring the situation and will directly reach out to foreign missions if any information is received about their citizens being affected.
During a briefing on Wednesday, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed condolences for the families of those affected by the tragic incident. Reports indicate that some of the victims of the bridge collapse were from Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras. Currently, six construction workers who were on the bridge at the time of the collapse remain unaccounted for.
It was also revealed that the crew of the ship that collided with the bridge was from India. The State Department is working to gather more information and provide support to those affected by the disaster.
