US singer Noah Kahan achieves second UK number one album

US singer Noah Kahan has netted his second UK number one album, according to the Official Charts Company.

A surge in popularity for the late Michael Jackson’s hits following the release of the Michael biopic in cinemas, also means he has two albums in the top five along with three others in the top 40.

Vermont singer-songwriter Kahan’s fourth studio album The Great Divide is also the best-seller of the week in independent UK record shops and tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

His last offering, 2023’s Stick Season, also reached number one and went on to be named one of the biggest albums of 2024 and 2025.

Kahan is followed by Foo Fighters in second place with Your Favorite Toy, marking their 14th UK top 10 album.

Olivia Dean’s chart-topping The Art Of Loving remains at number three, while the top five is completed by the two Jackson albums: Michael – Songs From The Motion Picture and Number Ones.

His 1982 Thriller has re-entered the top 10 for the first time in 17 years at number eight, while 1987’s Bad is back in the top 40 for the first time since 2014 at 13. It is closely followed by Essential Michael Jackson at 14.

Meanwhile, Paul Weller’s live recording Weller At The BBC (Vol 2) earns him a landmark 30th solo top 40, at 19.

There is little change from last week at the top of the singles chart, with Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s hit Rein Me In at number one, switching places with Olivia Rodrigo’s Drop Dead, which was in the top spot last Friday but has now dropped to second place.

It means Rein Me In is enjoying a ninth non-consecutive week at the summit.

Justin Bieber’s Beauty And A Beat, which features Nicki Minaj, remains in third place in the UK charts following his viral headline set at US music festival Coachella last month.

There is also no change for Tame Impala’s Dracula at number four, while Alex Warren completes the top five with Fever Dream, up one place from last week’s number six.

Jackson, who died in 2009 at the age of 50, also makes a return to the UK singles chart, with three tracks in the top 40.

Billie Jean, which was first released in 1983, is at number 13, while Beat It from the same year is at 22 and 1979’s Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough reaches 23.

Meanwhile, Kahan has three tracks from The Great Divide making the top 20 this week, with Doors at number 12, the record’s title track at 17, and Porch Light in 20th place.
