Blinken emphasized the importance of all actors in Syria respecting human rights, upholding international law, protecting civilians, including minority groups, ensuring humanitarian access, preventing terrorism, and securing and destroying any chemical weapons stockpiles.
The Secretary also expressed US support for the stability of Syria's neighbors, particularly Jordan, during this transitional period.
Additionally, Blinken and Abdullah addressed the situation in Gaza, highlighting the urgent need for a ceasefire that secures the release of all hostages. Blinken commended Jordan for its leadership in providing humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
