NEW DELHI: Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday to easily advance to the US Open quarterfinals for the fourth time in a row in New York.
After finishing in the semifinals in 2021 and 2022, world number two and Australian Open winner Sabalenka finished second to Coco Gauff in last year's New York final, as per AFP.
With an astounding 41 victories, Sabalenka avoided all eight break points that she faced.
She will next play Donna Vekic of Croatia or Zheng Qinwen, the Olympic champion from China whom she defeated in the Australian Open final.
