World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will also be in focus as he pursues his first US Open crown. A victory would complete the career Grand Slam for Scheffler, with the US Open being the only major championship he has yet to win.
The field also includes Brooks Koepka, who won the tournament the last time it was staged at Shinnecock Hills in 2018.
Tournament returns to historic Long Island venue
The 126th edition of the US Open returns to Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, located on the eastern end of Long Island. The venue most recently hosted the championship in 2018, when Koepka successfully defended his title.
Recent champions
J. J. Spaun enters the tournament as the defending champion after claiming his first major title in 2025.
Recent winners also include Bryson DeChambeau, who captured the championship in 2024 for his second US Open title after winning in 2020, and Wyndham Clark, who lifted the trophy in 2023.
