The US Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik will appear on the new Dancing with the Stars season, ABC’s Good Morning America hosts announced on Thursday.
“I want to bring some of that gymnastics – maybe a backflip or handstand. I want to have fun with it,” Nedoroscik told GMA hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Gio Benitez.
The reality show’s 33rd season will premiere on 17 September on ABC and Disney+, and so far Nedoroscik, 25, is the only cast member confirmed.
Dancing with the Stars pairs celebrities with professional dancers. Teams compete for scores by performing different styles of dance, such as the tango, waltz, foxtrot or ballroom. The winning team takes home the mirror ball trophy.
Nedoroscik notably earned the nickname “the pommel horse guy” during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He won an individual bronze medal for his routine on the pommel horse, a gymnastics apparatus made of a metal frame that resembles a horse’s back, on which athletes balance, rotate and swing from.
The gymnast, who wears glasses and closes his eyes before performing, became a viral meme while competing, with some comparing him to Clark Kent, the fictional character who looks like a normal person until he transforms into Superman.

Nedoroscik also competed with the US men’s gymnastics team, which took home their first bronze medal in 16 years.
After his wins, Nedoroscik took to X and said his Olympic experience was “everything and more”.
“Bronze team. Bronze horse. I am forever grateful to have had this opportunity. This Olympic experience has been everything and more. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Bronze is a great achievement, but I got eyes for something shinier in my future #2028,” Nedoroscik wrote.
Dancing with the Stars season 32’s winners were the actor Xochitl Gomez and the professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. The singer Jason Mraz and his partner, Daniella Karagach, came in second place.
This season, the show will be hosted by one of its former dancers, Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star who played Carlton Banks.
