The United States is currently not making arrangements to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon, despite a rise in airlines canceling flights to Beirut. A spokesperson from the State Department confirmed this decision during a recent press briefing.
The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that there are no immediate plans for an evacuation or any private efforts to assist US citizens in Lebanon. Instead, American citizens are encouraged to explore available commercial flight options.
Furthermore, the staffing and security levels at the US embassy in Lebanon have not been altered. The State Department continues to advise American citizens in Lebanon to enroll in the Smart Traveler program to receive crucial updates on safety conditions and other relevant information.
It was reiterated that a Level 3 travel advisory has been issued for all of Lebanon, urging US citizens to 'reconsider travel,' while a Level 4 advisory specifically cautions against travel to southern Lebanon.
The US Embassy in Beirut recently shared a 'crisis plan of action' for American citizens in Lebanon, advising them to be prepared for potential extended periods of sheltering in place. This guidance comes as Lebanon anticipates a response from Israel following a recent rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that tragically claimed the lives of at least 12 children.
