US Navy sailor charged with murder after fellow sailor shot in head on new aircraft carrier, allegedly aimed loaded gun at other sailors 3 other times

A US Navy sailor aboard the brand-new aircraft carrier the USS John F. Kennedy has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a fellow sailor in the head. The incident came after multiple alleged incidents this year of the sailor brandishing his loaded service pistol at fellow sailors.

Massachusetts-born Jayjrion Rodriguez, a Boatswain’s Mate and an Aircraft Handling Airman Apprentice, is accused of using his service pistol to kill Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Jesse Braswell in an incident on June 6 when both men were serving as part of the ship’s port security detail. Rodriguez was then detained for five days but released. He has now been officially charged.
