US Monitoring Russia's Updated Nuclear Doctrine

The United States has responded to Russia's updated nuclear doctrine, which now includes considering aggression from any non-nuclear state with the participation of a nuclear country as a joint attack on Moscow. A Defense Department spokesperson stated that the US was not surprised by this development, as Russia had been signaling this change over the past several weeks.

The Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary criticized Russia's rhetoric as irresponsible and noted that similar statements have been made in the past two years. Despite the update in Russia's nuclear doctrine, there are currently no indications that Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon within Ukraine, according to the Defense Department.
