- Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was asked about the attack on a girls’ primary school in southern Iran which killed more than 160 people, including scores of pupils, during a news briefing Wednesday.
- “All I know is we’re investigating that,” Hegseth said. “We of course never target civilian targets, but we’re taking a look and investigating that.”
- The reporter pressed: “It’s several days on now, so is there any clarity on whose munition this was?” to which Hegseth repeated: “We’re investigating it.”
- US attacks on Iran will continue for as long as necessary, Hegseth said, adding it was “never meant to be a fair fight”.
- “We are only four days into this,” Hegseth said. “Metrics are shifting, dust is settling, and more forces are arriving. It’s very early, and as President Trump has said, we will take all the time we need to make sure that we succeed.”
