Washington transferred custody of ten people wanted by Mexican courts back to Mexico this week, the third such handover U.S. Ambassador Ronald Johnson has publicized in August, pushing the month's running total to nineteen fugitives returned. The people involved face accusations spanning kidnapping, narcotics trafficking, firearms offenses and cartel activity in several Mexican states, according to Johnson's Aug. 25 announcement on social media. "When the United States and Mexico work together, criminals have nowhere to hide," the retired Army colonel wrote, crediting the transfer to what he described as a results-driven security partnership between the two governments.
