Tim Walz and JD Vance grappled over immigration and abortion in a vice-presidential debate which provided far less drama than September’s clash between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Mr Walz, Vice President Harris’s running mate, and Mr Vance, Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick, shared a “Midwestern nice” approach during the lengthy debate in New York.
