England fans have been told not to fear France and their star striker Kylian Mbappe in the World Cup quarter-final clash this evening - as they have famous spoon bender and psychic Uri Geller on the Three Lions' side. The two clash in Qatar with a spot in the semis the prize.
The Israeli-British illusionist says he has a 'massive cosmic connection' to French ace Mbappe as they share a birthday and so therefore will be able to stop him scoring. The prolific goalscorer has already hit the back of the net five times in the four games he has played at the tournament and is seen as the main threat to England.
Uri told the Daily Star: “Because he was born on the same date as me, I have a massive connection to him - both cosmic and energy. It is my opinion that I will be able to stop him from scoring. I believe if the Daily Star readers can think alike, psych him out, and visualise him missing and not scoring, it is possible.”
It’s not the first time Uri has helped out England on the world stage and he famously claims to have moved the ball during Gary McAllister's spot-kick against England in Euro 96. After hovering in a helicopter above the stadium during the match and chanting: “One, two, three, move” in the clash against Scotland, keeper David Seaman saved the penalty.
He also says he ensured Harry Kane’s fitness for England’s group stage clash against the USA, with England’s star man declared match ready just hours after Uri said he was sending his dodgy ankle an “invisible spiritual thread” with “the power of healing and love”.
But Uri reckons that stopping Mbappé’s blistering speed and lethal finishing will prove to be a tougher ask. He explained: “He is a scoring machine and it is very difficult to stop him. He is very dangerous, as you can see. I will do my best to psych him out, that’s what I taught Muhammed Ali to do when he was fighting in the ring.”
