The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued three urgent recall alerts due to possible serious health risks. Muller, Sainsbury's, and itsu have issued recalls on products and offered advice to those who may have purchased them.
Companies issue product recalls or withdrawals when there is a problems with that product which means it should not be sold. This could lead to them being taken off shelves in shops (withdrawn) or asked to be returned by people who have bought it (recalled).
The Food Standards Agency issues these warnings to urgently alert consumers and local authorities to potential dangers associated with particular foods, which could range from the presence of a harmful bacteria, or an allergen that has not been declared on the label.

Here are three alerts to be aware of that have been issued recently:
Itsu (grocery) recalls frozen itsu 4 chocolate bao’buns because of undeclared milk
The Japanese food brand itsu is recalling its frozen itsu 4 chocolate bao’buns. This is because some packs may contain milk, which has not been properly declared on the label.
This means this particular product could pose a potential health risk for people with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
The products have a pack size of 180 grams and a best before date of December 14, 2023, and February 8, 2024. No other itsu products are affected.
The FSA says: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it. For a full refund, send a photograph of the best before date to customerservice@itsugrocery.com or write to them at itsu (grocery), Partnership House, Carlisle Place, London, SW1P 1BX. For more information contact itsu on 0333 224 9510."
Müller recalls various Cadbury branded dessert products because of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes
The FSA says Muller has taken a 'precautionary' step of recalling some batches of various Cadbury desserts because of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. This includes the Cadbury Daim Chocolate Dessert (use by May 18), Cadbury Crunchie Chocolate Dessert (use by May 17), Cadbury Flake Chocolate Dessert (use by May 17), Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons Chocolate Dessert (use by May 18), Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunks Chocolate Dessert (use by May 18), and Cadbury Heroes Chocolate Dessert (six pack) (use by May 18).
The FSA warns that these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This can cause symptoms similar to flu such as a high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. Those over the age of 65, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems, are said to be more vulnerable from Listeria infections.
A product recall has been issued for these desserts. The FSA says to not eat any of these products if bought and to return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund (with or without a receipt).

Sainsbury’s recalls 'by Sainsbury’s Mexican Style Chilli Cheddar' because of the possible presence of Salmonella
Supermarket Sainsbury's is urgently recalling it's 'by Sainsbury's' Mexican Style Chilli Cheddar because it may contain Salmonella. Point of sale notices are being displayed in their stores that sell the product with a recall issued.
Customers who have bought this product have been told not to eat it, but instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
The possible presence of Salmonella comes in the 200 gram pack of the Mexican Style Chilli Cheddar, with best before dates of June 12, June 22, and June 30 of this year. Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
