Urgent warning as free £200 switching offer to bank customers ends tonight

Anyone hoping to get a free £200 has just hours left as HSBC's cash offer ends tonight at midnight.

HSBC is offering anyone who switches to its Advance Account a tidy £200 sum, but time is running out. Savvy bank customers have just hours to take advantage of the generous switching offer.

In order to get the free money, you'll have to be sure to fulfil the two conditions of the offer.

The two key things to do is start the switch within 30 days of first applying and make sure you move over two direct debits or standing orders, as reported by The Mirror.

Interested customers can sign up for HSBC's Advance Account on HSBC's website or through visiting your nearest branch.

HSBC has made this simpler by teaming up with the Current Account Switch Service which is used by over 40 banks, including First Direct, NatWest, Nationwide and Monzo.

The service transfers payment mandates like direct debits and your salary over to your new HSBC account. Any payments will also be automatically redirected to the new account.

The switch, which takes seven days, will be covered by the Current Account Switch Guarantee so you won't be out of pocket if anything goes awry.

A range of other banks around the country are also offering switching bonuses, including Lloyds Bank, First Direct and NatWest.

NatWest is offering switchers £200, although you can't get the bonus if you made a switch from NatWest, RBS or Ulster since October 2017.

You just have to open the account online or in-app, then pay in £1,250 or more and use the app within 60 days. You should then pocket £200 into your NatWest account within seven days.

There's a smaller switching offer of £150 at Lloyds but you'll get to choose between the following perks - 12 months of Disney+, six free cinema tickets or and magazine subscription if you sign up to a Club Lloyds, Club Lloyds Silver or Club Platinum account.

It should be noted that there is a £3 monthly fee with Lloyds to maintain these accounts unless you deposit £2,000 or more in each month. Customers will also get access to a regular saver account which offers 6.25% interest.

Meanwhile, bank customers signing up to First Direct can get £175 free cash and access to a 7% savers account. You just have to pay in £1,000 or more within three months of switching and then wait up to 28 days for the £175 to appear in your account.

Whenever you do make a switch to a new bank, make sure you consider everything that bank is offering you beyond the cash bonus. For example, if you know you want to open up a savings account, check out which one has the best rates.
