Urgent warning as chocolate, cheese and ready meals are recalled by Lidl, Asda and Sainsbury's

Lidl, Asda and Sainsbury's have recently all recalled a number of food products, issuing a 'do not eat' branding alongside them.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) flagged a number of issues with affected products like chocolate, cheese, popcorn and ready meals sold by the three leading supermarkets - with contamination, undeclared allergens and Salmonella all cited as potential hazards.

The recalls affect Lidl's Fin Carré Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts, Asda's OMV! Mac ‘N’ No Cheese, and Sainsbury’s Mexican Style Chilli Cheddar, as well as Buttermilk Speculoos Flavoured Fudge with Biscuit Chunks and Grape Tree Toffee Popcorn.

The Mirror reports that a number of these items may contain small pieces of plastic, have been contaminated with Salmonella or contain allergens such as milk and gluten which are not listed on the label. These can be dangerous to people consuming said products, and could end up being potentially life-threatening should someone have a serious allergy to an undeclared ingredient.

Should you have bought any of the following items, it would be wise to check the product's pack size, lot number and best-before date to determine if yours is affected. If you have in fact purchased an affected item, you are asked to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
