Urgent search for missing Edinburgh woman as family issue 'extreme concern' for welfare

An urgent search has been launched to trace a missing 25-year-old Edinburgh woman following her disappearance.

Appeals were sparked online on Wednesday evening (October 26) to locate Melissa Longmore after friends and family issued "extreme concerns" for her welfare.

Police Scotland have confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the 25-year-old was last seen leaving her home in the Liberton area at around 10.20pm on Tuesday (October 25.)

Issuing an appeal post to locate Melissa, her family said in a post:

"Melissa is 25 years old, white, female, 5ft 8ins in height and of medium build. She has light brown hair and a pale skin tone.

"Melissa was last seen leaving her home in Liberton, Edinburgh at 10.20pm on Tuesday the 25th of October. She was wearing black leggings, grey T-shirt & black cardigan and was carrying a mustard yellow backpack.

"The police have been informed that she is missing. "Melissa’s family and friends are extremely concerned for her welfare. If you see Melissa or make contact with her, please report this to the police immediately."
