Irish shoppers are being warned to check their fridges and presses after the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a recall for two popular breakfast products sold in supermarkets.
The FSAI issued a recall notice for certain packs of the Ardo Frozen Fruitberry Mix, and for Fit Foods Breakfast Club Porridge with Mixed Summer Berries after it was discovered that Hepatitis A was present in both the frozen yoghurt and the porridge.
The FSAI says hepatitis A can make people sick for a number of months. A spokesperson said: “The above batch of Ardo Frozen Fruitberry Mix is being recalled due to the presence of hepatitis A.

"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch. The batch number is Lot:58622131 and the best before date is 31.05.24,"they added.
Hepatitis A infection is an acute disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus. Symptoms of hepatitis A include fever, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain, and jaundice.
A recall notice was also issued for Fit Foods Breakfast Club Porridge with Mixed Summer Berries due to the presence of Hepatitis A. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches. The affected product's use by dates are 26/08/22 and 29/08/22.
The FSAI said: "Some people experience a fairly mild illness from hepatitis A and recover within a couple of weeks. Older people are more likely to have more severe symptoms, and some infected children do not have any symptoms at all.
The incubation period is on average 28 days but can range from 15 to 50 days.
If you have these products with the matching batch number and best before date, do not consume them, and return it to the store where you bought it where you should be due a full refund.
