A man who discharged himself from hospital after being the victim of an alleged hammer attack has been traced after he was urgently sought by police who said he needed emergency surgery. Lathan Driscoll, 35, sustained a head injury during the altercation on Monday night which needs an operation.
But the victim, from Butetown in Cardiff, left hospital before doctors were able to treat him. Officers from South Wales Police subsequently urged Mr Driscoll to come forward and seek urgent medical attention. A spokesman later said in an update officers had traced the man and "urged him to seek medical attention".
A 35-year-old man from Grangetown has been arrested in connection with the assault which happened in Cardiff Bay just after 8pm on June 13. He remains in custody. Detective sergeant Greg Burns from South Wales Police said: “A suspect has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
