An upmarket steak restaurant is set to open its first Welsh branch later this year. Gaucho, a chain of steak restaurants, has announced that its first Welsh site will open in May at the former All Saints shop on The Hayes in Cardiff.
The new restaurant, branding for which was spotted earlier this year, will sit across two storeys and will have the option to exclusively hire out one of the floors for special occasions. With a glamorous cocktail bar taking up the centre of the restaurant, there are also two private dining rooms to hire out for more intimate occasions.
The opening, an exact date for which has yet to be confirmed, will also feature a 'beef' bar' guided by a chef showcasing an Argentinian beef tasting menu and an interactive dining experience. The à la carte menu will offer Gaucho’s signature range of sustainable steaks including marbled ribeye, sirloin, fillet or the restaurant's speciality churrasco steaks with a garlic, parsley and olive oil marinade.

To complement the steaks there will be a range of flavourful Argentinian dishes such as shrimp ceviche with picante rojo, empanadas filled with your choice of beef, sweet potato and provolone or chicken and chorizo, and a marinated pork matambre with Malbec jam.
"I'm thrilled to be bringing Gaucho to Cardiff, our first restaurant in Wales," said Mike Reid, Executive Chef at Gaucho, who has developed the à la carte menu. "I’m excited to bring our signature sustainable steaks and a taste of Argentina to the Cardiff community and look forward to welcoming our first diners.
Gaucho, which opened its first restaurant in London in 1994, says it prides itself on having a positive impact on the planet. The restaurant participates in a project with the Carbon Group gathering carbon emission data and launched the 'Sustainable Steak Movement' last year alongside the 'Buenos Aires' and 'M' restaurant groups.
The collection of restaurants in the UK has grown to 12 in London as well as six regional sites in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool. It will open a branch in Newcastle in March.
