The Nottingham Forest fan who required medical attention during Wednesday night’s victory over Coventry City is making a good recovery.
In the very epitome of “limbs” in the stands, Reds supporter Mark Hefter says he was “knocked out cold” as he enthusiastically celebrated James Garner’s goal in the 2-0 triumph over the Sky Blues. But he is now very much on the mend.
The match was temporarily paused in the second half at the City Ground, a few minutes after Manchester United loanee Garner had doubled the hosts’ lead with a rifled left-footed shot. Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba helped alert officials to an incident in the crowd, and he asked for an update on the fan after the full-time whistle.

Quoting the club’s tweet about the break in play, Samba posted on Twitter: “Is our lad ok btw?” He added three praying emojis as he expressed his concern.
Hefter replied: “All good mate, a little tumble over some chairs celebrating the second and smacked ribs against a chair and knocked me out cold. Cheers for helping spot situation so I could be sorted (thumbs up emoji) things we do for Forest (love heart emoji).”
Boss Steve Cooper had also sent his good wishes at the full-time whistle. He said: “The first thing I want to say is, I hope the fan is okay. I couldn’t quite see what was going on, but I think there was a bit of an incident with a fan who fell unwell. From the dressing room, the coaching staff and the support staff, we just hope there is a speedy recovery.”
Garner’s goal came after Brennan Johnson had opened the scoring for Cooper’s men. The three points moved them to fifth in the Championship table with eight games remaining, including holding at least one in hand on most of their top-six rivals.
