Upbeat Scotland star insists side can take 'confidence' from Morocco showing

Upbeat Kenny McLean insists Scotland can take "confidence" from their showing against Morocco, despite losing 1-0 on Friday night.

The Norwich City captain came on in the second half, as Steve Clarke's side looked to cancel out Ismael Saibari's early strike for the African Cup of Nations champions.

Despite failing to take anything from the game, McLean is choosing to remain optimistic. "I think the way we took the game to a top side in Morocco, we can take a lot of confidence from that," he said. [BBC]

"We know that we are a good team, and when we’re on the front foot, like we were in the second half, and taking the game to them, we were controlling a lot of the game.

Yeah, there were a few counters; we threw caution to the wind a wee bit late on, but we played really well.

"Obviously, after the little slip-up early on, we gave ourselves a lot to do, but I think the reaction and the character we showed after that was brilliant."
