LUCKNOW: Accusing the BJP of trying to influence election results, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that senior officials from the CM’s office are making phone calls to district magistrates across the state instructing them to slow down the counting of votes at places where the BJP is found trailing.
Describing the UP assembly elections as the “battle to save democracy”, Akhilesh said any attempt to “steal votes” would lead the country to a situation where people would have to launch a movement to restore democracy.
