Lewis County Public Health is investigating a confirmed measles case in an unvaccinated resident. The department said it was notified of the positive result on Sept. 26, 2026, that the patient is isolated until no longer contagious, and that it has directly contacted everyone known to have been exposed, according to its public notice on the confirmed measles case.
The county did not release the patient's age, town, or the places where exposures occurred, citing privacy. Officials said, "The overall risk of measles to the general public remains low, particularly for individuals who are fully vaccinated against the disease or born before 1957."
