An unusual tortoise was found abandoned in a carboard box on top of a bin. The distinctive Horsefield’s tortoise was left in a Hello Fresh delivery box with hay on the bottom – and was handed into animal welfare chiefs.
The Scottish SPCA believe the animal is a pet and it may have been left by owners struggling to pay for it. It was found on top of a bin in Ladybank, Fife, on October 21 and is now being treated for a misaligned beak.
A concerned member of the public brought the animal to a local veterinary practice. Scottish SPCA inspector, Robyn Gray, said, “The tortoise was found in a Hello Fresh delivery box with hay on the bottom.
