Unsolved Wartime Pigeon Code: skeleton and red capsule found in Surrey; GCHQ says note undecipherable

Builders were working on a house in Bletchingley, Surrey, when they found the skeleton of a carrier pigeon inside a chimney in 1982. A small red canister was attached to one of its leg bones that contained a handwritten coded message. The discovery came decades after the bird disappeared during the Second World War, but the note's contents remained unknown. The message was addressed to “X02” and contained groups of letters that have never been reliably decoded.
