'Unreal' Archie Gray hailed as Leeds United supporters react to convincing Blackpool victory

Leeds United cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Blackpool in their first match of pre-season at the York Community Stadium.

First half goals from Robin Koch, Junior Firpo and Rodrigo sent Leeds into the half-time interval with a 3-0 lead. Jesse Marsch rung the changes on the hour-mark and Mateo Joseph emerged from the bench to add a fourth late on.

Summer signing Marc Roca and academy graduate Archie Gray impressed on their first starts for the Whites. Leeds have four pre-season matches remaining before the start of the new Premier League season. Their tour of Australia will see them take in friendlies against Brisbane Roar (14 July), Aston Villa (17 July) and Crystal Palace (22 July), before they play host to Cagliari at Elland Road on 31 July.

After comfortably disposing of Blackpool in their pre-season opener, here is what supporters had to say about the performance.

@Neilfax Nice solid start to pre-season with 16 year old Archie Gray playing very well amongst other youngsters.

@ScottOWorrall Starting off pre-season in style.

@mightywhitespod Dropped off with all the changes but overall good. Nice to see some football again.

@SideBeforeSelf Decent run out. Roca and Gray looked very good. Gelhardt and McGurk with quick feet in tight spaces. Firpo still can’t defend.

@FlyTheWhiteRose Really well played, yes only the first one, but some brilliant young talent shone. Archie Gray, wow! He’s literally just finished his GCSE’s. McGurk was also impressive for me as well.

@AnotherLeedsFan Superb first half, scrappy second. Koch, Drameh and Firpo looked really impressive and a good, solid debut for Roca. MOT.

@CourtneySparke5 This is a sign of good things to come.

@UnitedLeeds_1 Good to get into early habits of goals and clean sheets.

@wy_coach Good to see LUFC hit the ground running tonight. Switched on at set pieces, creative and playing with good intensity.

@ShaunCronin7 Good workout for the lads, Roca looked tidy.

@Ricardinho_lufc Archie Gray looks unreal and only 16, he’s got a bright future.
