A man was caught with a lock knife in a public place just days after he had a blazing row with his partner in Blairgowrie.
Police found Geo Wheeler in possession of the bladed article two days after he argued with the woman about what was termed in Perth Sheriff Court last week as a “disagreement over dogs”.
Wheeler (30) pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm by shouting and swearing at the female at his home address in Myrtle Park on July 4 last year.
He further admitted to being in possession of a lock knife without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority at Rattray Community Hub on July 6.
Defence solicitor David Holmes said police found the lock knife on Wheeler as he had recently been on a camping trip and had forgotten he was carrying it.
Sheriff Peter Anderson attempted to glean further information about the kind of language Wheeler used on the day he shouted and swore at his partner but fiscal depute Sarah Wilkinson was unable to provide any further details.
He sentenced Wheeler to complete 80 hours of unpaid work as his punishment for the two offences and placed him under supervision for nine months.
Sheriff Anderson also made Wheeler the subject of a non-harassment order meaning he may not contact or approach the woman he shouted and swore at for 18 months.
He told Wheeler: “Nobody gets better from a screaming match, everybody just gets worse.”
