A Georgia couple is accused of stealing hundreds of scratch-off lottery tickets from a convenience store in January, but ultimately had no luck after being busted by police in Atlanta.
Martell Johnson, 28, and Gabrielle Murray, 31, were stopped by officers last week in connection with the heist earlier this year.
Surveillance footage of the robbery shows two people dressed all in black with their faces covered, sneaking into the store on January 5 at around 4 a.m. and raiding the cashier’s desk.
The thieves stole approximately $5,000 in cash, hundreds of lottery tickets, and several packs of cigarettes, Atlanta Police said in a statement.
One of the suspects was also captured on surveillance footage at a separate business, cashing some of the stolen tickets on the same day.
Following an investigation, police identified Johnson and Murray, who were stopped by officers on March 10.
Bodycam footage showed the pair being taken from the vehicle separately, while Murray is heard asking officers, “Why am I being arrested?”

During the traffic stop, police say they recovered approximately 315 lottery tickets from the vehicle.
Johnson and Murray were both charged with second-degree burglary and felony theft by taking. Murray was released on a $45,000 bond, but Johnson remained in jail.
