Universal Credit and State Pension claimants issued payments ban by UK banks

Some UK banks have issued bans on payments for those claiming Universal Credit and State Pension.

Claimants face a limited choice and struggling to buy a place of their own because half of lenders are refusing to give people on benefits a mortgage.

The ban is because lenders analyse all sources of income to check if applicants can afford a loan - which includes salary but also benefits and pension claims.
