United Airlines has announced that it will be suspending flights to four Florida airports on Thursday in response to Hurricane Helene. The affected airports include Tampa International Airport, Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport, Key West International Airport, and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
In a statement released by the airline, it was mentioned that operations at these airports will be halted until further notice. Additionally, United Airlines is offering to waive change fees for passengers traveling to, from, or through 25 airports in the United States, Mexico, and Cuba. The list of airports eligible for fee waivers can be found on the airline's website.
As part of their efforts to assist passengers during this time, United Airlines has also made adjustments to their operations. They will be utilizing larger aircraft in the coming days to accommodate more customers flying out of Havana, Cuba.
United Airlines' decision to suspend flights and offer fee waivers is in line with their commitment to passenger safety and ensuring minimal disruptions during severe weather conditions. Passengers are advised to stay updated on the latest flight information and to contact the airline for any necessary changes to their travel plans.
